Dream Theater in Manila For The First Time Ever!

After several years of trying to bring the band in the Philippines, Dream Theater will be playing their groundbreaking album "Images And Words" in its entirety to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the album.

I started this campaign and put up a page in Facebook (mentioned below) to convince, Dream Theater to come to the Philippines.  I managed to get a Meet and Greet with the band at Singapore in 2012 and talked to John Petrucci about them coming to our country, to which he replied, "Maybe someday."  I never lost hope since then and hopefully on September 25, 2017 everything will come into fruition.

Keep coming back to this page for further updates. Spread the word!

Dream Theater Drum and Guitar Covers at Musar's Recital Competition 2013

Musar's Recital Competition is an annual event wherein several students get a chance to showcase the talent they have acquired from all the lessons in this music school.

During the said event, I was able to record the performances of two young and talented boys.  The first video is a drum cover for Dream Theater's "Build Me Up Break Me Down" from the album "A Dramatic Turn Of Events" which was performed by Marxsen Marshal Salada.  This was a shortened and simplified version for a 12 year old.

Drummer/Student: Marxsen Marshal Salada
Drums Instructor: Daryl Dizon/Davz Alunan
Lead Guitarist: David Rafael Alunan
Bassist: Rhoi Frigillana

This second video is a guitar cover of Dream Theater's "Lines In The Sand" from the album "Falling Into Infinity" which was also a shortened version.

Lead Guitarist/Student: Kurt Renzo Acosta
Guitar Instructor: Yam Dangla
Drummer: Jan Vincent Niñalga

Paramore In Manila

It has been a long time since I posted or even signed in on this blog.  I think I got really busy being a dad. :)  So, here is my first post for the year of 2013.  I'm not a big fan of the band, but they are good, I guess.  Paramore fans might kill me for this, their music is great, it's just not my cup of tea so to speak.  The only reason I was at this event is because of my lil' sis.  Since she was not able to come with us in Singapore, when my lil' bro and I watched DT. I promised to take her to a Paramore concert as long as they visit Manila.  Talking about a wrong move, huh?!? :)  Well, a promise is a promise.  Seeing her smile, scream, and sing along with her favorite band is really priceless.

I just love making my family happy. ;)

The concert was held at SM Mall Of Asia's Arena on the 15th of February 2013.  I really love taking photos in a concert.  The lighting, the action, the emotion, everything!  Seriously, what's not to like in taking concert photos?  If only I could be a concert photographer.  Can someone hook me up? :)

Below are some snaps from Paramore's recent concert in Manila.  These were all taken from the lower box, right side facing the stage.  They kicked off the night with their newest single, 'Now.'  Fans swayed with the lights of their phones when the band played their ballad, 'The Only Exception' and ended the night with 'Misery Business.'

Enjoy! :)
